The ventral part of the implants acts like a “traditional” artificial disc replacement (ADR). The dorsal part of the implant retains the mobility of the facet joints, while unloading the facet joints and reguiding their movement to a natural pattern.

At the moment this procedure is limited to the lumbar down to the l5 vertebra and a single level. However, we expect this to change in 2009.
